I currently live in Charlotte, NC and after spending 7 years as a personal chef and caterer, I am now happy to share my love of cooking with friends and family. My heart is in the kitchen, but my soul is in the stars!

The Best Pain Reliever

I can't believe how long I've been away from my little blog! Part of my absence stems from the fact that Captain Sturm and I did manage to go away for a long weekend to Dallas in celebration of our 2nd anniversary. Soon after that, he went out of town on business and accidently took my laptop charger with him and left me with no way to work on my computer at night. The third excuse, ah reason, for my absence is that I've suffered from Blogger's Block for the last few days. It's not that I haven't had anything to write about - quite the opposite, actually. There have been SO MANY things that I've wanted to blog about and it was so overwhelming and I didn't know where to begin. So, I'm just going to pick a place and start.....

Once upon a time long, long ago my great-grandmother gave a cookbook to my mother and her sister when they were very young. In that cookbook was a recipe for "No Bake Oatmeal Cookies". My mother, being the more culinarily inclined of the two made the cookies and her sister, taking one look at them, ever so eloquently dubbed them "Globs". The name stuck and even years later, Globs are a favorite treat among my entire family and the ingredients are must-have staples in my own pantry.

In my household, Globs are only made in emergency situations. What constitutes a situation dire enough to bring out my beloved recipe? Over the years, Globs have helped me through several relationship-gone-bad emergencies and numerous depressing home-alone-again emergencies. The warm, sweet chocolately goodness goes right to the very center of what is wrong in my world and makes it right. Very soon after Captain Sturm's and my return from Dallas, I had to declare it an emergency situation for reasons that may very well appear in one of next blog entries.

This is a very simple recipe to make. The hardest part is being patient while you're waiting for the mixture to come to a boil. Now, here's my little secret for making the world right again...I don't let the mixture boil for a full minute. The point of doing that is so the Globs, er...No Bake Cookies, will harden once you put them on the cookie sheet. But I like to eat them right out of the pot while they're warm and gooey and I don't care for them after they've hardened. Depending on how right or wrong things are in your world, I hope you'll find your exact boiling point....enjoy!
